Now that we have the summary taken cared of I can know say exactly what I thought of this movie. I think it’s awesome. This film is somewhat a sequel to the movie Cloverfield. Which was a found footage monster movie. I have never seen that film and I don’t really want to. It’s a monster movie with shaky camera and just never fully worked. This film though is nothing like the first movie and for the last few minutes it’s really it’s own film.
Set in it’s own section of I guess the Cloverfield world. The film is a great mashup of sci fi and horror. There are intense scenes throughout this movie and it’s told very smartly. It’s three people and they are in a bunker. There is a lot of things that could have gone wrong with this but it didn’t.
This film could have been a b-film throw away; and wonderfully it’s not. It’s not a throw away at all. The large part of why this film works is because of John Goodman. You really do believe him and his motivation. He could have just been a wacked out paranoid guy but he gives him a motive and reason.
I’m trying to not spoil anymore of the fun of this movie. It’s an intense and awesome movie. Way more than the sum of it’s parts and wonderfully so. I had heard that they were going to do Cloverfield movie a year. Movies that attach to this world and so long as they keep it small and contained I think it’ll be awesome. The next one’s God Particles which is said to be about exactly what is going on. I can’t wait to see what Bad Robot’s going to be adding to this series. Definitely check out this movie!
