Wonder Woman & #DCEU news!
This past weekend it was released! Wonder Woman hit the big screen and people came out. Yes, women but also just comic book fan's and those that are not fans came out. It cruised to a 100.5 million dollar opening! Which yes I don't think is that high but when you take in women lead films haven't ever reached this level before it's actually really cool.
Of course, they are already going ahead and green lighting that Wonder Woman sequel. Which I have to say is good news and was to be expected. There won't be any negative press on this one and actually, I think it sets a good mold for the DCEU as a whole. Not a bad thing at all.
We still plan on seeing this film this week. It should be a fun ride. If you haven't gone to see this movie it's not out of the park yet it still needs a good second and even third week. Then it can tail off. The good sign is that The Mummy and Captain Underpants which isn't I don't think that big of a competition for the film. Mummy I think will come in second if not third. Underpants might even beat it. That would crush Universal though.
It's also been mentioned now that Patty Jenkin's is actually not totally locked down for the sequel. If this is the case then she certainly gets a very large chunk of not just in the way of the pay day but might help to steer this huge universe. I'm not totally against. I haven't seen it just yet but she seems to know what she's doing. That is what these "Universes" need. Someone to actually steer this boat.
Now on to some of the other news out there. The next thing is that Suicide Squad 2 is going to be shooting sometime next year. They are completing the script as we speak and all WB has to do is get a director. Which there are a lot of names being thrown around. Some would be interesting really to see. It'll be fun to see who takes the helm on this one, especially since Gotham City Siren's is getting Margot and David Ayer.
I hope that they focus on character and actually making us feel for the character and have more of an idea of what the hell they want to do with this film! Hopefully, the success of Wonder Woman will make them feel more confident and not be trying to carbon copy Snyder.
That is your news! So let us know who you would like to see as the director of "Suicide Squad 2" and how excited is everyone about Wonder Woman?
