The State of the Arrowverse

Arrowverse!

Part One

So it’s a few weeks basically before the start of the second half of the Arrowverse. The shows so close to coming back I thought we’d take a peek at how the shows overall have been going. Some of the hit and misses of the first half of Arrow TV basically. I am going to use do the show with how they show on the week. I am breaking each of the shows down. Since there are four the first four will be covered in this blog post. The next two will be after. I will mention though the crossover week and what happened; and thoughts of that event. I may or may not have a third part but will definitely be two.

Supergirl

I like Supergirl and while I don’t think the first whole season was all that great it had some good parts. Now that they have some history with these characters they have expanded on the world of these characters and their problems. Making very natural choices in the storytelling.

I do think that the use of the sister did shine a bit more. It did round out her character and flesh out a side character really nicely. Though sometimes the episodes felt that it was more driven for it then part of it. At least at times I found myself wanting to see what happened then the other storylines. That being said it was an interesting coming out story. Which for those of us in our thirties and not a little kid watching the show we have seen before. It did have it’s turns and they were nice but it is a storyline we have seen before.

Jimmy Olson’s turn as a vigilante, or another superhero. I don’t know if I’m totally sold on this. Though having him now in the position of Katniss. Which I get since Calista wouldn’t take a pay cut nor move to Canada. A casualty of the show going from CBS to CW. It does at times though feel like the Arrowverse loves to get a group of heroes going and all. A favorite theme from the other shows. It would be nice sometime to keep that to a side.

I am also excited to seeing about where things are going with the Dominators. Since I had heard that the back half of this show’s season basically involving the Dominators. Also too wouldn’t be bad to see Flash again on Supergirl. I like their dynamics. Since we are on wishful optimism I wouldn’t mind more Superman. I like this version of Superman. It’s not dark and gloomy or anything. It’s how I envision him and it’s not Snyder’s version. I’m also not a Superman fan so to say that says a lot. I’m a Batman fan for the record.

Flash

To me and my opinion Flash is the best of the shows. It’s the strongest character and storylines. It’s nothing fancy though just taking comic book storylines with soap style trappings. Yet, it does so very well. It’s a crazy zany story. Though I hope that now that they have Flash going head to head with Zoom (Who is supposed to be the baddest speedster out there in all of time.) that they leave the speedster. It would suck to keep having him go against another speedster. The only speedster I want to see after this season is Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne).

I like this new timeline and the build going forward. I hope that they do let the Iris/Barry relationship finally go to the next level and stay there. There isn’t anymore pulling out the rug and going back to the beginning. Honestly who knows since we have to say Iris and not have her be killed. Who knows how it’ll play out just hope it’s not going back in time.

Not all of the show has been good I think some of how they handled Frost wasn’t always the greatest nor strongest. Though having her in play I think is interesting and could be a lot of fun. Also having her go against Cisco somewhere in the future or possible has a lot of fun.

As to the future of this show it definitely is in how they handle the knowledge of knowing that Zoom is going to do something to Iris and how Barry handles it. Since none of the speedster are supposed to go to go into the future just stay in the past.
