Have you heard?
We all knew this was coming, and while I'm not totally shocked I am kind of like in a state of Wow. It's been reported as it has over at Sci-Fi Wire that Disney in it's wisdom has decided to actually mapped out the next 20 years or so of Star Wars? First off I have to say that that is crazy. I know and see how much of a success Marvel has been for Disney but come on.
That is a really long time and one thinking that this era of film making is going to last that long and or that people would tolerate that long is something crazy. I don't think that this whole one universe and one movie a year is something that could be with stand.
I have to wonder though if this is actually do able? Do you think that the appetite of the public would allow Disney to actually keep peddling out these movies and tv shows till 2030? I know that Marvel is one thing and it is. It's it's own world and while I wouldn't mind if one day they stop making those movies and tv shows but would we as the fans allow them to just cut the cord to this series with out an end? Just let them actually end it with no ending or wrap up, no resolution? Which is in the card if this series doesn't take off. Though the other part of me is wondering where all they will go over the next 20 something years.
The story lines and world is huge when it comes to Star Wars. The way and how you can tell a story will grow as the technology grows. That is something built into this series to until recently negative effect. Will be exciting to see what is planned and the changes that come from it. You can't have a series written in stone for that long. It does have to adapt and grow.
Rouge One has opened the doors and Disney has really seen the money that they could actually make by expanding on the series. Also how hungry people are for Star Wars. Yet, can it be maintained that long? That really is the question and can we handle with them just dropping the series at a moments notice? It takes a ton of money making any film. That is why the big studios have played it close to the chest and keep pumping out movies like these. Which people want to see. Another negative is that while there is another Star Wars it could kill another original film. Just for the fact that they don't have the money to supply other films nor room to place another film. Tron 3 suffered that fate as that was what was cited. Though now there are rumblings of a spin off now. Who knows the true reason but it could happen people.
